Bishop Warren C. Dorris, Jr.

Venezuela Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Prelate

Bishop Warren Dorris, Jr.  has traveled across the world preaching and teaching the masses about the love of Jesus Christ. Leading Prayer Tower since 2005, Pastor Dorris remains steadfast in his quest to “Committe to winning souls for Christ.” He is recognized as a catalyst to help individuals grow into lifelong Christian disciples who follow Jesus Christ. Pastor Dorris believes that these individuals will impact the world on behalf of the Lord, thereby strengthening families and healing broken hearts along the way.

Pastor Warren Dorris, Jr. is the senior pastor of Prayer Tower Ministries Church of God in Christ. Under his leadership, the church has grown its membership and opened a new, multi-million-dollar campus on 20 acres of land in Joliet, IL. Pastor Dorris was called to the gospel ministry in 1993 and appointed Pastor of Prayer Tower in 2005. He served as the Chairman of the Northern Illinois State Elders Council from 1999-2020. He also served as an Administrative Assistant to the late Bishop Cody Marshall for 10 years and was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Church of God in Christ General Council of Pastors and Elders from 2010 to 2015.  In addition, he served for years as an Executive Board Member under former Chairman Bishop Derrick Hutchins.

With dedication, Warren served twenty-four years in the Joliet City Council.  He officially retired from the Joliet City Council in 2011 as He entered the Mayoral Race for the 2011 election.  Warren, Jr. has been blessed in his professional career at Caterpillar, formerly held the position of Manufacturing Manager for six divisions at the Caterpillar Joliet facility and was promoted in 2007 to Technical Services Manager. Warren was the first African American in the history of Caterpillar (Joliet) to hold the highest management position and is also noted as one of the highest ranking African American executive in the corporation.  His career has allowed him to travel extensively in the United States, Europe, and many other parts of the world.  After thirty-six years of employment at Caterpillar, Warren officially retired on January 31, 2009.

Along with his pastoral work with Prayer Tower, Pastor Dorris traveled to the Holy Land on three occasions and was honored along with 40 pastors from the United States to be the guest of the Prime Minister of Israel in 2015. Pastor Dorris and First Lady Rita Dorris have also invested in building a dormitory for 50 girls in Eldoret, a principal town in the Rift Valley region of Kenya and partnered with Now International Family Church in Eldoret to spread the gospel and provide basic needs for many families in the region. Pastor Dorris’s commitment to community service is further exemplified by his time spent serving the city of Joliet as a city councilman. He served twenty-four years on the city council (six consecutive terms). He also served as the president of Rainbow/PUSH Joliet Affiliate when Reverend Jesse L. Jackson appointed him to the position in August 1997.

Pastor Warren C. Dorris, Jr. has been married to the love of his life for 50 years, and God has blessed them in many ways. They have been blessed with four children and seven grandchildren.
