Our 1st Lady

First Lady Rita Dorris has been serving as the first lady of Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ since November of 2005. A southern belle, Rita was born in Winona, MS, to Georgia and Booker Johnson. At the age of twelve, she moved with her mother and sister to Illinois where she fell in love with her husband, Warren Dorris, Jr.  Most of all, Lady Dorris prides herself in being a loving mother to her four children and she is also the proud Nana to her seven grandchildren.

First Lady Rita Dorris is a licensed missionary and the Chairperson of Prayer Tower’s Women's Ministry. Under her leadership, a book store has been established to provide women of all age’s information in the areas of spiritual growth, health awareness and social support. For many years she has been dedicated to the Outreach & Homeless Ministry and diligently works on other community projects.

First Lady Rita Dorris believes that if she continues to follow God’s mandate and allows Him to order her steps, she will remain on the right path and go wherever He leads.
